Hi there, I'm Oliver
I work as a project manager, am a parent, and live as an expat in Cambridge, United Kingdom.
A few years ago I moved here with my family, and what began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new life chapter overseas.
How It Started
Moving to United Kingdom wasn't planned for the long term. Like many expatriate relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Routine tasks felt more complex than necessary.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt secure.
Why I Built Glad Shore Tangent
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or light, tourist-oriented material. What was missing was candid, everyday family insight.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in United Kingdom.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Practical experience from living in United Kingdom
- Focused on family life and everyday realities
- Updated when something genuinely changes
This site ISN'T:
- A tourism authority resource
- Sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in United Kingdom continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information is useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Cambridge or anywhere in United Kingdom, feel free to reach out.
Cheers,
Oliver
